The collection Gli Orsi Polari has been a fundamental catalyst for understanding my practice and the direction I should take moving forward. I had initially created a pair of charcoal polar bear studies that intended to depict their innate violence; these started as reactionary pieces to finding out about The Willow Project. An oil drilling initiation based in Alaska, due to start in 2029. The safety and future of the wildlife and its respected environment are at the heart of these depictions, attempting to communicate a natural distress and concern for preventable issues. Inspired by my research into Edvard Munch and his translation of natures ‘scream’ was too a key aspect for conveying this idea.
